Quick answer

The official Steam description presents Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 as a co-op game for up to four players. Use that as the party-planning baseline, then check the current storefront and client for your platform, account and matchmaking details. The official description does not by itself confirm every cross-platform, subscription or console-store behavior.

Plan the fireteam

Before the first drop, agree on:

  1. the mission and difficulty you are entering;
  2. the job each player will own;
  3. who handles a priority target or swarm-control moment; and
  4. what the team will do if the first position collapses.

The store page supports class abilities, deeper squad mechanics and a customizable Specialist. That gives the team a reason to discuss jobs before choosing perks. It does not make four different class titles mandatory.

Separate platform facts from party advice

Use the current store or platform client to check whether your installation is available, whether your friends can join through the same matchmaking path and whether a subscription listing applies. Do not infer crossplay from the phrase “four-player co-op.” Open Crossplay for that narrower question.

If you are playing alone, continue to Solo and AI Teammates. If the party is ready but a class decision is blocking the drop, use Classes and Specialist.

What this page does not claim

The official store description does not establish a full platform matrix, Game Pass availability, PSN purchase behavior, crossplay rules, controller mapping or Steam Deck compatibility. Those require current platform-specific evidence and can change independently of the broad co-op description.
