Quick answer
Assign a job before choosing perks: hold space, control the swarm, finish a priority target, sustain the push or recover after a mistake. The official Steam description supports coordinated four-player co-op, distinct class abilities and adapting to encounters. It does not require four different class titles or one fixed composition.
Make the first drop legible
Use a short call before launching:
| Team question | Example job | | --- | --- | | Who owns the priority target? | Mark and finish the threat | | Who controls the lane? | Slow, stagger or protect the approach | | Who sustains the push? | Keep the team ready to continue | | Who calls the recovery? | Reset the position after a mistake |
Then choose classes whose current ability text supports those jobs. Test the composition in one mission and record the encounter pressure that caused the change.
Use Specialist with a purpose
If the team has one missing job, open Specialist Build Basics and change one ability package. If the question is simply which class exists, use Classes and Specialist. This keeps a team decision separate from a list of every possible build.
Evidence boundary
The official page does not establish damage, cooldowns, spawn rules, permanent class rankings or mission guarantees. Those facts need current-client evidence. A repeated player report can justify an issue page, but it does not prove a universal encounter rule.
Continue with Horde mode
When the fireteam jobs are clear, use Horde Mode to plan the survival-mode question separately.
