Quick answer
Do not infer crossplay from the official four-player co-op description. Check the current client and platform listings for the exact party path, then record the platform pair, account region, invite method and error text if a friend cannot join. Crossplay is a service/platform behavior and needs current evidence separate from class or mission advice.
Party compatibility checklist
- Write down each player’s platform and game version.
- Confirm everyone is on the same release branch and has completed any required account or privacy setup.
- Use the current in-game invite flow once.
- Record whether the invite is missing, rejected, or accepted but fails during loading.
- Test the same pair in a low-stakes lobby before changing class or difficulty settings.
If only one player fails to connect, keep that symptom separate from a global crossplay conclusion. If the connection succeeds but the mission fails, use Crashing and Performance instead.
What the official scope tells us
Steam presents coordinated co-op, class abilities and a customizable Specialist. That supports planning a shared team job once the party is connected. It does not state whether every platform can join every other platform, whether cross-progression exists, or whether a subscription changes access.
For a class decision after the party is ready, continue to Co-op Roles. For a platform listing question, use Platforms and Co-op.
Evidence boundary
Platform availability, crossplay, cross-progression, region restrictions and service incidents require a current official or on-device check. Do not use a community answer from another release window as the default.
