Mistfall Hunter has six classes: Mercenary, Withered Knight, Sorcerer, Blackarrow, Shadowstrix and Seer. Official material confirms two weapon stances per class and customization through skills, talents, equipment and affixes. It does not provide an official best-class ranking, so choose by the decisions you enjoy and verify exact mechanics in the current client.

Choose a class starting direction

Filter the published class orientations by the problem you want to test. This is an evidence-aware starting point, not a permanent tier list or a promise that one class wins more often.

Showing 6 of 6 class directions for the solo lens. Test survival, disengagement, ordinary clearing, and extraction reliability.

Evidence-aware starting direction

Mercenary

A close-range direction for testing defensive timing, spacing, and heavier commitments.

Close-range commitmentDeliberate timing

Community observations; exact current defense and balance values remain unclaimed.

Evidence-aware starting direction

Withered Knight

A methodical melee direction for players who want to prepare an engagement and hold dangerous space.

Close-range commitmentDeliberate timing

Current mark, detonation, defense, and rescue behavior needs live verification.

Evidence-aware starting direction

Sorcerer

A ranged-magic and control direction to investigate without importing Seer mechanics or invented values.

Evidence-aware starting direction

Blackarrow

A ranged-pressure direction for deliberate aim, prediction, repositioning, and distance management.

Ranged pressureDistance and aim

Ranged and kiting descriptions are attributed community observations, not a permanent ranking.

Evidence-aware starting direction

Shadowstrix

A mobile, high-risk direction for players who want to test entry, pressure, and disengagement.

Mobile engagementHigh-risk mobility

Stealth, burst, and current balance claims need same-version comparison.

Seer

A support and control direction for testing information, space, and team-oriented decisions.

Support or controlSupport and control

Exact support, control, healing, and damage behavior remains evidence-limited.

Choose by combat preference

  • Mercenary — investigate defensive melee, sword-and-shield and heavier hammer observations.
  • Withered Knight — investigate deliberate melee, defensive timing and mark-oriented community descriptions.
  • Sorcerer — investigate ranged magic and control, while detailed current mechanics remain under-sourced.
  • Blackarrow — investigate ranged precision, kiting and distance management.
  • Shadowstrix — investigate stealth-led openings, mobility and high-risk close combat.
  • Seer — investigate support, control and a more aggressive close-range magical direction.

These short descriptions are orientation, not permanent role labels. Community sources span beta and early-launch contexts, and the current version may differ.

Solo versus squad

Solo players need to consider ordinary clearing, self-protection, information, disengagement and extraction reliability. Squad players can specialize more, but only when the other two players and communication support that role. No official class-level extraction, win-rate or matchmaking dataset was found.

Use the Best Solo Class guide for an evidence-aware comparison. Use the Tier List to understand why this site does not publish unsupported letter grades.

Learning difficulty and risk

Community material presents Mercenary as a potentially more forgiving starting direction, while Blackarrow and Shadowstrix may demand stronger spacing, aim or engagement control. Withered Knight observations emphasize deliberate timing. Seer and Sorcerer raise different questions around support, control and ranged magic.

These are not objective difficulty scores. Hardware, latency, stance, build, mode and player experience all affect how a class feels. Test both stances before making a long-term investment.

Build only after choosing a job

A class is the beginning of a build, not the full build. Decide whether you want safer solo extraction, ranged pressure, defensive melee, control, support or a high-risk opening. Then use the Builds guide to record version, stance, skills, talents, gear, affixes and failure conditions.

Published build pages require a reproducible current plan and an independent cross-check; Blackarrow, Withered Knight, Shadowstrix, Hammer, and Polearm and Shield now meet that reference-preset threshold. The Builds hub keeps them separate from unsupported universal-best claims.

Evidence standard

Every class page separates official framework facts from attributed community play-style observations. Exact skills, damage, cooldowns, win rates and rankings are withheld unless current evidence supports them. Uncertainty is part of the answer, not a gap to fill with guesses.
